Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting - February 2000.
The following were amongst items discussed at the February meeting:Girton Village Amenities Consultation Evening
Thanks to all village groups who sent a representative to this
meeting. The thirty participants were organised into five groups
and responded to questions posed by the Chairman. The aim of the
evening was to give the Parish Council a better idea of what village groups
thought should be priorities now, and in the future for the development
or redevelopment, of facilities in the village. A full report of
the meeting will be sent to those who attended the meeting, and will also
be available to anyone else who wishes to read it.
Position of Freelance Sports Development/Facilities Manager
The closing date for applications for the above post has now passed,
and the Parish Council will be interviewing applicants in the near future.
Parish Precept 2000-01
Apologies for the typing error in the Council's report on last
month's meeting. The figure for the Precept 2000-2001 should have
been £42,000 as agreed at the meeting, not £49,000 as in the
report. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
Village Bus Service
Please continue to send in details of your experiences of the local
bus service. A report is being compiled to form a basis for a campaign
to expose the erratic service we have to put up with.
Recreation Ground Development
The foundations for the new pavilion are well under way and the
upright steel posts indicate how quickly the project is progressing.
Do remember that building compounds are potentially dangerous places, and
please report any signs of break-ins or vandalism.
Girton Youth Works
Girton Youth Works have been successful in securing funding from
the High Sheriff Award for their Millennium Garden. Watch the 'hump'
on Hibbert Ware Garden as work there has already begun.
Annual Parish Meeting
This will be held in the Glebe School hall on Wednesday 10th May
2000 at 7.30 p.m. A short report will be given on activities over
the past year and there will be an opportunity for questions. The
meeting will conclude with light refreshments and the opportunity to meet
Councillors.
