Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting - July 2001.
The following were amongst items discussed at the July Meeting:Safer Routes to School Scheme
The County Council has approved an interactive traffic speed sign
for vehicles entering the village from the Oakington Road. Discussions
continue on the precise location of this sign.
Pavements in Girton
The Clerk holds details of the various pavements within the village
that are being re-surfaced by the County Council. Other pavements
not on that schedule that also require work on them will be brought to
the attention of the Council.
Recreation Ground
It is anticipated that the equipment to go on the concrete area
between the Astroturf and the Tennis Courts will be in place in the not
too distant future. The equipment will be aimed at younger users.
Those wishing to book the facilities should still call C. 472181,
but these calls will be dealt with by a new Bookings Administrator rather
than the Parish Clerk.
Litter Bins
These will be in place throughout the village within the next couple
of months. It is anticipated that two extra bins would be sited on
the Recreation Ground. Bins will also be sited near the Tennis Courts
and the new mini-ramp. Any person with information on areas in the
village needing targeting by the litter picker should ring the Clerk.
Girton Town Charity
It was anticipated that about five developers are expected to bid
for the building project on the land at Wellbrook Way. The Section
106 Planning Agreement was formally put in place in early July of this
year.
Weaver's Field
The final details on the adoption of the Open Spaces at Weaver's
Field are nearly in place and it is anticipated that the Open Spaces will
formally be handed over to the Parish Council in the very near future.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Wednesday 19th
September 2001 unless the Chairman feels the need to call an August meeting
to discuss any pressing issues that occur between now and then.
