Girton Feast 2011

Sorry to mention July 2011 when we are still in the summer of 2010 but planning now needs to start on a Feast week for next summer, particularly as we are aiming to make it bigger and better than the one held on 2009!

We already have the support of the Parish Council, for which we are very grateful, but now need to seek more support from within the village. While we will be requesting financial support from other quarters (with full acknowledgement given in the Feast promotional material) we do need as much help as possible in staging the Feast. We should very much appreciate hearing from anyone who is prepared to join the Feast Working Party. In 2009 we generally met about once per month, slightly more in the weeks leading up to the Feast. We should also like to hear from any person or organisation who is willing to organise an event to take place within the Feast week (last time events included a History of Girton festival, barbeque, hog roast, open allotment day, a fun run and road run, musical events, nature walk etc etc). At the last Feast fair we had a very hard-working and willing band of Stewards but we really needed more so that they could have breaks.

So, generally, all offers of help will be much appreciated.

In 2009 we raised money for two designated charities: East Anglian Air Ambulance and MAGPAS and we would hope to be able to have a designated charity for 2011. We are open to ideas if anyone would like to suggest a charity.

We expect the 2011 Feast to take place from 2 to 11 July.
