1. Apologies for absence were received from Don Absalom, Sue Williams and Mike Collier.
2. There being no further amendments to the minutes Val Godby proposed that we accept the minutes of the last meeting as circulated, seconded by Robin Scrine.
3. By a unanimous vote James Barnard, Kathryn McKee and Jake Reynolds were co-opted onto the GPPSC.
4. Val Godby updated the SC on previous village surveys. There appeared to have been few of these that could be of value to the present exercise. The most recent survey that may have some useful information being the Safer Girton survey (1996/7) and report (1999). This information is available from the PC.
5. A list
of village stakeholders has been initiated and is appended to these minutes.
Val Godby to contact GPN for list of

6. Remits of all PC subcommittees were appended to minutes of last meeting. James Ford-Smith gave a verbal update on the activity of environment sub committee including the setting of four new Parish boundary signposts around Girton (Please Drive Carefully Through Our Village). The environment subcommittee are also Trustees of the Woodland (looking for wardens!) and responsible for trees and hedges around the village. They are hoping to conduct a tree survey soon.
James Barnard enquired what sort of 'teeth' these committees had. Douglas de Lacey and others responded that this depended on the issue, but that it was also necessary if we were going to influence planning to get some amelioration from encroachment and could possibly benefit the village in terms of, for example, funding for village activities. It was also a document that could be used, not just by the village, but also by others in helping to control and influence at district, county and other levels.
7. Members updated on activities since last meeting. Consisting mostly of looking at stakeholder groups and the feasibility of a village questionnaire. The GPPSC reiterated the desire to be as inclusive as possible in this process and noted that some villages had achieved over 80% success rates in doing this.
8. Action: Kieran Mansley to assess Village Appraisal Software (generates questionnaire and provides analysis tools). The assessment should include an evaluation of the suitability of the software for the village needs and whether the cost is justified. By next meeting.
9. Action: Alex Duncan to assess the feasibility of conducting face-to-face interviews as a means of using the questionnaire (by next meeting). The formation of a questionnaire sub group was also proposed
10. The GPSS endorsed the principle of forming subgroups to explore the issues of Identity; Environment; Education; Traffic & Transport; Facilities; Safety; Planning and Social life. It was suggested that traffic might be split into two groups, one looking at construction traffic during the building works for Northstowe and NIAB sites; the other looking at residential traffic flow as a result of the occupation of these new housing developments.
Douglas de Lacey to update progress and appeal for volunteers in GPN
James Barnard to explore how we might be able to generate a map of village ownership.
