Girton Youth Project - Sport Relief

Sport Relief is coming to Girton

On Saturday July 15th there will be a Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile on the Recreation ground. It all starts at 10am with the run beginning at 10.30am. The aim of the event is raise as much money as we can for sport relief to help those who need it the most.

As well as the mile, there will be other exciting activities and entertainment taking place at Girton Glebe School including a performance from local band Pilots Of The Sixth, to help raise as much money as we can for sport relief.

You can wear what you like when you complete the mile…the more outrageous the better! Anyone can register for the event and you don't have to run it, you could skip, hop or crawl as it's all about fun and helping to raise cash. Remember, if you are unable to complete the mile yourself you can show your support by sponsoring others and by also coming to some of the other activities that will be taking place on the day.

BBC Radio Cambridgeshire will also be there to get any interviews with those who go that extra mile for Sport Relief.

To register for the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile in Girton you need to log onto www.sportrelief.com, then at the top of the page click on "The Mile", you then need to click on "Find your nearest Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile". Here you can type in your post code and a list of events will be displayed and you will see the Girton Mile in the list. Follow the instructions to register for the event. Please be patient with the website as the amount of people using it can overwhelm the system and cause delays and other minor problems, whatever happens don't give up!

Sport Relief is an initiative of Comic Relief in association with BBC Sport. The last Sport Relief Mile in 2004 attracted 81,000 milers including Princes William and Harry. Once again, everyone from teenagers in trendy trainers to families in fancy dress are being urged to enter a place on the start line at www.sportrelief.com. So get sponsored and help raise lots of cash for the vulnerable people leading tough lives here at home in the UK, and in the poorest countries in the world.
